Embrace Reason

and freedom from fear

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why did you write this book?

After realizing that the Bible was full of inconsistencies, fallacies, and a God who is not moral (and we're told we are to "be perfect as God is perfect"), I could no longer follow it as a pathway to truth. I believe others, as well as society as a whole, would do better without it as a license for selective supremacy, misogyny, genital mutilation, slavery, and shaming.

  • Are you afraid of going to hell?

The biblical hell is a new construct in the New Testament and not only does it have no support within the Old Testament, but is wholly unloving. To be saved from a hell that God created is not salvation, but is extortion. The original languages don't support a hell and ideas of it originate from Dante's Inferno and Paradise Lost.

  • Don't you need God to understand the Bible?

The Old Testament states that his law is not too far, and not too difficult. Stating that I need a spirit to understand the scriptures and foolish without it is a biblical ad hominem that uses scripture to attack a person's cognitive reasoning skills instead of staying on topic and addressing the issues and a reification fallacy.

  • What do you believe now?

I believe we should do our best to live peaceably with others if we want to live in a peaceful society. I believe it is our own actions that are held to account - in ourselves and in the world we live in. It is my belief that without proof of any God (biblical or otherwise), it should not be the default to juxtapose the intricate and unknowable (in superstitious fashion) to a god.

  • What's next for you?

A second book is wrapping up to be published in 2024.

About the Author

Deborah Grace spent the better part of her life writing for the legitimacy of the scriptures, but it was in those writings that the truth began to surface. Having been told numerous times over the years that she would one day write a book, Crucifying the Bible is her first published book and the last point of contention she ever imagined taking on. Although controversial, Grace found the process to be cathartic and another layer of closure to her past journey in faith; healing many old wounds inflicted by religion and finding a sense of validation as she connected with others who shared similar stories in her research. Deborah is finishing her second book to publish in 2024.

As an INTJ, she is careful with her choices, detailed in her work, introspective in her personal growth, and strives to finish strong. Her tagline is to be a better person today than yesterday and an even better person tomorrow than today.

Deborah, in her spare time, and in addition to writing, enjoys learning new things,  traveling, and a good glass of Italian wine.

Quotes

“The prophecies are there so that one could know “yes, this person is who he says he is” or “no, he doesn’t check all the boxes.” If the claim is that Jesus is the prophesied messiah, then the reader must examine the prophecies. If God promised certain things within the time of the messiah, the reader must examine the promises.”

“The fear being perpetuated by this New Testament work of fiction has gridlocked real spiritual growth and given people a scapegoat for their behavior. This vicarious redemption from “Satan’s grip” is sadistic and narcissistic, at best. You will never find a single instance in the Old Testament of anyone claiming, ‘The devil made me do it!’”

“God says he will come in judgment as a swift witness against those who oppress the employee in his wages; who else is oppressing workers more than a pastor with his hand out for money?”

“People inherit traits, not sins. Saddling each generation with the sins of their ancestors, exponentially, is a far greater sin of emotional abuse than any help the Bible can possibly offer.”

“There has been no higher element of persuasion found than the hypnotic mind control of religion, and there is no greater threat to free will than sinister minds who cherry-pick scripture for their master plans.”

“The attacks on the minds of the masses are littered throughout the Bible to reinforce fear, and the stronghold of mental enslavement, to remain as effective as possible. If a man believes he should not trust his cognitive abilities, then he continues in an endless cycle of abject humiliation.”

Reviews

Deborah Grace lets you see what happens when oil meets water! Her exploration of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament seriously makes one have to reevaluate everything you believe(d) as a Christian. I highly recommend this book for everyone. The contradictions in the Bible are numerous and obvious as Deborah shows, especially for those harmonizing everything.
This book deserved 5 stars all the way.

Crucifying the Bible is a fair and unique critique of both the New Testament and Old Testament using nothing but the Bible to disprove itself. The book has the potential to reach more believers than other atheist literature since it utilizes the one authority no “true” Christian questions: the Bible.

Deborah systematically strikes each of the presumed truths in the New Testament by illustrating they do not fulfill the Old Testament, but in fact demonstrate the messiah (Jesus) is a false god. Human sacrifice was never acceptable. Tithing meant feeding the poor, widows, and priesthood, not lining pockets. Prophecies were twisted or misinterpreted to fake fulfillment. Baptism was never mentioned, but in fact, was borrowed from regional pagan religions. After reading the first section, you will honestly not be able to say Jesus is God. After the New Testament is proved false teaching, she deconstructs the Old Testament picking apart contradictions, immorality, and false reality presented.

A great read for anyone questioning their faith and an excellent way of rethinking Christianity for all.

My life is better for having read this. Intelligent, informative, energetic. This book reveals things and demands answers that other books never even address. Unlike long, talkative, meandering, embittered books written by people who have pages of strength hidden beneath thousands of words of boredom, this book cuts with the surgeon's skill... and never lets up. In fact, I was 20 chapters in before I stopped to take a breath. For the love of God, oops, I mean Providence, this writer needs their book to be in the hands of every atheist, humanist, ex-Christian, and honest seeker. This is one of the kinds of books where repeatedly the writer says things that I have wondered, brings up things that I have pondered about and laments about things that have happened to me as well. This is a very brave, strong, book and I will go so far as to say that the world is a better place for this book having been written. This book needs to be a workbook/textbook/book of the month discussion book for any atheist, humanist or honest seeker group. It is that well written. And I would just like to say to the author that for this being your first published book, you have fought the good fight. You have turned your pain and fire into words, and they will illuminate the lives of others.

A truth seeker's guide to Freedom FROM religion. Such a thoughtful and powerful book that has a little info for some and a ton of info for others. Meaning, depending where you are on your personal walk/journey will determine how much this book impacts you, spiritually and practically. It's jammed packed full of undeniable facts that will leave some readers speechless and others thankful/relieved. I experienced both the former and the latter. Kudos to the Author and I look forward to her next book!

This is an excellent, cogent, and in-depth cross-examination of biblical fallacies that questions the veracity of fundamental tenets propagated as unquestionable truths by exponents of the Bible. We are living in a time when religion, like a fire that has shined its brightest and is waning, is being ushered into the ash heap of myth. You cannot read this book and come away thinking that the Bible, and the God in it, is infallible.

If you have been steeped in theology and biblical teachings and have some doubts about "the inspired Word of God" read this book and you will never again look at the bible the same way.

"10 out of 10! This is a very informative read. Educational and thorough. I enjoyed every minute of it."

- B. Morrissey

I found this really intriguing and solidified my opinion that the Bible is a work of fiction. This book points out only some of the hypocrisy in the Bible without getting overly in-depth and using simple language. Well done Deborah Grace!

“Crucifying the Bible is an excellent resource for people of many backgrounds and walks of life—for Christians who want to test their faith, for those questioning what they have been told to believe, for those curious about the Bible and for those who want a reliable reference for many of the major contradictions in the Bible.”
